Farrier Services

Of vital importance to your horse is healthy feet. For centuries the farrier/blacksmith has added to the horses performance. We coordinate care with your farrier and do corrective and therapeutic shoing at the clinic.

Hooves should be picked out daily to prevent thrush (infection of the frog) and allow early detection of injuries and problems. Most horses need their feet trimmed every 6-8 weeks to prevent overgrowth and irregular wear. Horses in heavy use or on hard ground need shoes and these will have to be reset every 6-8 weeks as well. Choosing a knowledgeable farrier will go a long way towards keeping your horse sound.

Individual horses needs vary and we can talk to you individually to help solve any hoof problems your horse may have. If your horse appears painful or has trouble walking contact us immediately (574) 234-3098 because this could indicate a serious problem that would need to be taken care of as soon as possible.
